Therapy for Ohio’s Medical Students, Residents, and Fellows
Medical training is demanding—long hours, high stakes, and constant pressure to get everything right. You’re expected to stay composed, keep pushing, and “fake it ‘til you make it,” even when you’re running on empty.
It can feel like everyone else has it together while you’re barely keeping up. You encourage your patients to seek therapy when they need support—but when it comes to you, reaching out can feel intimidating. Maybe you’ve even talked yourself out of therapy a few times.
Meet Dr. Dannel Petgrave:
"I’m a licensed psychologist, and I offer online therapy for medical students, medical residents, and medical fellows in Ohio. I help Ohio’s medical trainees learn new ways of handling difficult thoughts and feelings so they can overcome challenging situations that show up in their lives.
What makes me different from general therapists is that I understand the medical system you work in.
I have direct clinical experience with medical students, medical residents, and medical fellows. Additionally, I’ve worked closely with healthcare professionals as a primary care psychologist. Throughout the years, I’ve had honest conversations with medical students, medical residents, and medical fellows about how medical culture can contribute to the stigma around mental health and make it harder to ask for help. On a personal note, I’m also a MedSpouse. I’ve been with my spouse through her journey from premed student to attending."
